Amy & Kolton | Backyard Summer Wedding

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

Where to even begin...

Amy & Kolton are two of the sweetest people I have ever met. Their love for one another is so genuine and shined through in all of their wedding photos! They rolled with the changes COVID-19 imposed upon their wedding, and Amy put together one heck of a backyard reception in less than two months time. It was a beautiful day for two incredible people and I was so happy to be a part of it all!

They were married on an incredibly humid day (with a heat advisory), and scattered storms surrounded the area. Though they had to move their outdoor ceremony inside, the Chanhassen Dinnear Theatre was a beautiful place for them to say "I do." It rained during the very beginning of their backyard reception, but soon enough the sun came out and the rain held off. Also, the stormy skies that night made for some killer photos of the newlyweds (check out the very last photo below)!

Let's dive into some of my favorite moments from the day:

About a month before their wedding, Kolton reached out to me with a surprise he had planned for Amy following their first look. After seeing one another for the first time on their wedding day, Kolton led Amy to a music box that had a pre-recorded message from him for her. The message was followed by a song that they danced to...and by this point, my "allergies" had fully kicked in ;) He wrote a song for her to read, and they were able to spend a few moments alone to themselves and take in the day together. ***This is a HUGE plus of having a first look.*** You get to take a step back from the chaos, and just enjoy each other's company (not to mention the sweet photos of the intimate moment/time together).

The Grand Entrance. When you think of the grand entrance before dinner, you think of the bridal party names being announced and them striking a pose, right? Well what if instead, the grand entrance included JOUSTING?! Yep...Amy & Kolton and their bridal party went all out with their entrance and jousted for "team bride" & "team groom." (Check out the pictures below-this was SO FUN)!

Prior to their wedding day, Amy had asked her kindergarteners what love is. During the reception, each member of the bridal party read off the things they wrote. A few of my favorites were "Love is someone you like, but more" and "Love is someone you care a lot about, and someone you miss when you go to the store." This was such a sweet idea!

Amy & Kolton, I couldn't be happier for you two. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day! Enjoy looking through photos from their beautiful, fun, & perfect July wedding!
